What to Wear on Your Next Wine Tasting + Our Favorite Wineries

Going wine tasting? Good choice.

We may have hometown bias, but the pacific northwest wineries offer some of the boldest views and wine flavor profiles to match. Whether you’re taking a girls trip or need a family-friendly spot, we’ve compiled a list of our go-to local places for all occasions, and hideaway hidden gems.

Need a few curated looks to go with your charcuterie board? We know exactly what to wear wine tasting, and we’ve spilled all our style secrets below. Just don’t spill on them.

Best for Day Dates: Madrone Cellars

Where: San Juan Valley, Washington

Headed out on your honeymoon? Romantic rolling landscapes make this a cozy spot for couples.

Located on a 40-acre farm, Madrone Cellars was built by dynamic husband and wife duo Shaun and Amy Salamida, who offer private tours fit for wine enthusiasts. The rustic scenery features intimate indoor seating and a gorgeous garden backyard.

If wine isn’t your thing, cider is available on tap to fulfill your tastebuds.

Style Pick: Bold Tropical Prints.

Great for Groups: JM Cellars

Where: Woodinville, Washington

Grab your group and book a reservation for JM Cellars, an easy drive about 30 minutes from downtown Seattle. Capture great group shots against the sprawling charming countryside, wander through the walking trails with your dogs, or stir up some friendly competition at the bocce ball court.

Reservations are recommended, and so are the decadent charcuterie boards, which are available to split with your group, or keep all to yourself. No judgments.

Style Pick: Cozy and Comfortable.

Foodie Destination: Waterbrook Winery

Where: Wala Wala, Washington

Come for the wine, stay for the food at the Waterbrook Winery,  nestled next to a pond with a breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Mountains.

This spot is known for its seasonally-selected menu designed by Chef de Cuisine Alex Leeper. You can stick with a classic bottle of the Bordeaux or Chardonnay, but we’re digging the sleek cans that are easy to carry in any size cooler.

Style Pick: Elegant and Versatile.

Fun for Families: Nefarious Cellars

Where: Chelan, Washington

Pack a picnic and lay down your blanket to soak in stunning views of the lake on the lawn. The back patio offers a fun swing set for the kids too. You can’t go wrong with any wine selection, but we’re eyeing the Nefarious Cellars 2020 Cabernet Franc.

Pro tip? Check out the wine service tiki hut, available on Saturdays only.

Style Pick: Relaxed and Breathable.
