Celebrate Earth Day with Cutter & Buck

At Cutter & Buck, we work for harmony between business, nature and society. To improve the world around us because we know the transformative power of nature. And to create sustainable products and ensure we use clean production methods.

In honor of Earth Day, we’d like to share some of the ways we are doing our part to preserve the planet and protect the environment.

1. Recycled Fabrics

Recycled polyester is made by breaking down used PET plastic bottles into small, thin chips, which are processed and eventually turned into yarn for knitting and manufacturing.

Our Rainier outerwear family features a recycled PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation, which is made from post-consumer plastics. PrimaLoft® is a world leader in providing high performance insulations and has dedicated itself to using post-consumer recycled content (PCR) since 2007.

We’re looking forward to using this technique to create more sustainable, eco-friendly shirts and layers.

2. Clean production methods

Our dedication to sustainability goes beyond our fabrics.

We also include clean production methods certified by OEKO-TEX® and Bluesign®. OEKO-TEX® enables companies to make responsible decisions through testing and certification processes based on sustainability. And Bluesign® is a system that helps create safer and more sustainable environments for people to work in.

Together, these certifications ensure the products your purchase from Cutter and Buck are made in safe conditions and tested for certified sustainability.

3. Zero Air Freight Initiative

A shocking 2% of global carbon emissions is caused by air transport around the world.

To help alleviate this, we began our Zero Air Freight Initiative. This initiative has reduced the percentage of finished goods flown from our factories from 18% to 0.26%! This is an incredible improvement that we’re extremely proud to have accomplished.

4. Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

Our digital platforms have allowed us to reduce the production of paper marketing materials (as many as 800,000 catalogs) to zero!

The savings in time, emissions and raw materials are substantial! And in turn, has also enabled us to curate more personal online experiences for you while you shop from the comfort of home.

In addition to all of these programs and initiatives, we’ve redesigned our usage of plastic bags to reduce waste and elevate your out-of-the-box experience when you order from us. These modifications also allow us to reuse the bags in our in-house embroidery unit.

We continue to explore ways to reduce our use of resources and produce products with cleaner methods so you can feel good about your Cutter and Buck purchases. And we will actively be working towards even more initiatives and products this year.
